Ensemble Theatre Company presents Martin McDonagh’s The Cripple of Inishmaan at the Jericho Arts Centre (1675 Discovery Street) from July 7 to August 13.

The Cripple of Inishmaan is a dark Irish comedy by the award-winning author of In Bruges, Seven Psychopaths, and The Pillowman.

The play is set in a small island community off the coast of Ireland in 1934, where young “Cripple Billy” Claven is desperate to escape poverty and the boredom of Inishmaan. When a Hollywood film crew arrives on a neighbouring island to film a documentary, Claven sees his chance.

Ensemble Theatre Company’s production is directed by Matthew Bissett, who directed last year’s The Farnsworth Invention. The play stars Sean Allan, Stephanie Elgersma, Rosie Frier-Dryden, James Gill, Erik Gow, Paul Herbert, Alison Raine, Maxamillian Wallace, and Rebecca Walters.

Previews for The Cripple of Inishmaan take place July 7 and 9 at 8 p.m., and the play officially opens July 9. Tickets, which are $25 for adults and $20 for students and seniors, are available online in advance.
