Ah, yes, even in the world of fairy tales, love is love and they lived happily ever after.

Fans of the locally shot ABC series Once Upon a Time can now say that the first same-sex kiss on the show happened once upon a time.

Anticipation had been generated by the show's executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis promising that an LGBT relationship would develop in Season 5. And they finally delivered in the episode that aired on April 18.

In the episode, Ruby (Meghan Ory) and Mulan (Jamie Chung) join Dorothy of Oz (Teri Reeves) to take on the Wicked Witch, or Zelena (Rebecca Mader).

Zelena casts a sleeping spell upon Dorothy. As the curse can only be broken by a kiss from a true love, Ruby places a kiss upon Dorothy to save her.

The production, shot in Steveston and Vancouver, has been a booster for the local economy, spending over $276 million in British Columbia over the past five seasons.
