A local photography company has captured some impressive drone footage of the crowd that attended Surrey’s Vaisakhi parade on Saturday (April 23).

"The gathering of people, it's amazing,” Skylake Photography’s Jaskaran Sandhu told CBC News.

"I have my friends, family in India and friends all over in Canada, and they were really happy because it's like a different perspective,” he said.

The event’s 18th annual run attracted a record-breaking 350,000 people to 128 Street, according to organizers.

Vaisakhi marks the start of the new year for people who follow Sikhism, a monotheistic religion based in the Punjab region of India.
