The 22nd annual Salmon Arm Roots & Blues Festival takes place at the Salmon Arm Fairgrounds from August 15 to 17. The festival is the largest music festival in B.C.’s Interior.

This year’s festival will be headlined by Mavis Staples, an iconic American R&B and gospel singer. She is best known for her family’s band, the Staple Singers, but has forged an admirable career as a soloist as well. In 2010, her 13th studio album, You Are Not Alone, won the Grammy Award for Best Americana Album.

Also at this year’s festival is Canadian hip-hop and rap artist Shad, iconic Canadian folk-country singer-songwriter Ian Tyson, renowned American singer-songwriter and guitarist Josh Ritter, Juno Award-winning roots and blues singer Rose Cousins, legendary blues performer Zakiya Hooker, and Canadian rock ‘n’ roll band the Sheepdogs.

The festival, which features several live-performance stages, also includes a family fun zone, global food village, artisan market, beer gardens, camping, and more.

Children 12 and under are admitted free. Tickets range from $50 to $170, including three-day passes.
