      This is disgusting.

A dead cat has been found hanging by his collar from a pole at Nootka elementary school in Vancouver.

That's not all. The B.C. SPCA states in a news release issued today (August 8):

A smoked cigarette butt had been shoved into the cat’s mouth and he had been placed to look as if he was standing on his hind legs. His left ear and mouth were full of blood and his right eye was also haemorrhaged with blood.

According to the SPCA, the grey, seven-year-old Russian Blue cat had a tag bearing the name "Smokey" and died of "blunt force trauma" to the head.

If you know anything about this case, the SPCA is asking you to call its animal cruelty hotline at 1-855-622-7722.

Eileen Drever, senior animal protection officer, commented in the release that it's "distressing to think that anyone would show such little respect for the deceased animal".
