Vancouver-based DanceHouse will present five exciting shows at various Vancouver venues during its 2014-15 season, which runs from September 26, 2014 to April 11, 2015.

Their season kicks off with Wayne McGregor/Random Dance in FAR on September 26 and 27 at the Vancouver Playhouse (600 Hamilton Street). This show by England’s most celebrated choreographer is a fascinating creative journey that draws on a radical cognitive research process. FAR includes jaw-dropping visuals, including a computerized pin board of over 3,000 LED lights.

Up next at the Playhouse is House by Isreal’s Sharon Eyal/L-E-V on November 14 and 15. The work sees dancers explore what a house truly is—a home, a club, an asylum, a way station.

On January 20 to 22, Montreal’s Louise Lecavalier/Fou Glorieux will perform at the Fei and Milton Wong Experimental Theatre at SFU Woodwards (149 West Hastings Street). Last seen on the DanceHouse program in 2011, Lecavalier returns to Vancouver with a new pieces: So Blue, which explores the states of the body through movement.

Also from Montreal, Marie Chouinard/Compagnie Marie Chouinard will perform Henri Michaux: Mouvements & Gymnopédies at the Playhouse on February 27 and 28. Henri Michaux: Mouvements translates the visual into the physical using a 1951 book of abstract illustrations by French artist Michaux. Meanwhile, Eric Satie’s works for piano become a movement score for dancers in Gymnopédies.

Finally, to close the season, Compagnie Käfig will combine works of four French choreographers with Brazilian dancers in Käfig Brasil. The choreographers—Anthony Egea, Céline Lefèvre, Octávio Nassur, and Denis Plassard—will have their works performed to a soundtrack incorporating diverse musical styles from Baroque to electronic music.
