Bandidas Taqueria donating Wednesday profits to striking teachers

A popular East Vancouver restaurant is doing more than showing its support for B.C.'s striking teachers.

Bandidas Taqueria (2781 Commercial Drive) has pledged to donate all of its profits from every Wednesday until the strike ends to the B.C. Teachers' Federation.

On Facebook, the owners of Bandidas posted:

Bandidas Taqueria will be donating 100% of our profits on Wednesdays to the BCTF Strike Fund. We support our teachers and value public education. Come out on Wednesdays to show your support of the teachers.

They also shared a link to Families Funding Teachers, a website urging parents of public-school students to "regift their $40/day bribe money" to the BCTF.

On Facebook they say they're donating 100% of their profits to the BCTF strike fund and on their website, 100% to Families Funding Teachers. 200% of their profits! Wow, that's generous.

I love the simple comment. ... greedy teachers without anything to support the contention. How does a one percent difference equal greedy when teachers have gone 3 years with 00 , 0 And 0 that is greedy?

In what other profession is the desire for competitive salary viewed as proof of callous indifference towards the job? You won't hear many say "that lawyer charges a lot of money, she obviously doesn't care about her clients", or "that coach earns millions - clearly he doesn't care about the team." ... And if teachers dare ask for a raise, this is taken by many as clear evidence that teachers don't give a porcupine's posterior about kids.
