B.C. Liberal Mark Marissen criticizes Raffi for supporting teachers

Two of B.C.'s favourite children's entertainers have publicly sided with teachers in their fight with the B.C. Liberal government.

Singer Charlotte Diamond wrote a letter to the editor of the Vancouver Sun claiming that teachers have "had to endure a very toxic attack on their rights for a fair settlement".

Meanwhile the artist responsible for "Baby Beluga", Raffi Cavoukian, has been using his Twitter feed to send a stream of messages in support of teachers.

That prompted a few responses from Christy Clark's ex-husband and political fixer, Mark Marissen.

Marissen has sent out five tweets, including one labelling Raffi as an "NDP partisan" and another offering background on "Raffi Socialism".

(As an aside, Marissen's activism on behalf of his ex-wife is reminiscent of the way Ray McCarthy used to venture into the trenches to support his wife, long-time Socred cabinet minister Grace McCarthy.)

Raffi doesn't seem rattled by it all. Among his recent tweets: "don't let personal attacks deflect vital message: BC gov't won't give teachers a fair deal. SupremeCourt 2 - gov't 0."

One of Raffi's fans, Laura Villeneuve, has since sent out tweets asking other B.C. celebrities to join Raffi in supporting B.C. teachers.

Among those she sent messages to were Bryan Adams, Trevor Linden, Sarah McLachlan, Michael Bublé, Steve Nash, David Suzuki, and Tamara Taggart.

So far, none of them has responded.

Wow, you must have a lot of time on your hands, tweets to Raffi! That's the best you can do, try to discredit his comments by blaming it on his partisanship. It's much more likely that he is as appalled as the majority of British Colombians are at her dishonest, childish tweets. Good lord, get a life!

Your attacks on Raffi are lame and shameful. Shows how desperate Clark and the Liberal bullies are becoming. Raffi is a much beloved child entertainer and I believe his comment reflect the feelings of families all over BC. His comments are honest and true. Shame on you Christy Clark. You are an embarrassment to the whole country and your words and (lack of)actions in this mess you created are disgraceful. Resign now!

Well, it's definitive: Raffi has spoken.

      Uh huh

I guess there is no further point in asking 'how low can this go'?
