Pop-up draws record lineup of over 8,000 shoppers on first day
If there’s one thing Vancouverites love more than a good ol’ half-marathon, it’s rocking exclusive lululemon gear from head to toe for said race.
Don’t believe us? Just have a look at the lineup for the company’s SeaWheeze pop-up shop, which officially opened its doors at the Vancouver Convention Centre this morning (August 12).
According to a lululemon press release, this year’s “showcase store”—a pop-up boutique featuring limited-edition athletic apparel available exclusively to participants of this weekend’s SeaWheeze half-marathon—drew a record-breaking lineup of more than 8,000 shoppers.
The company also noted that keen runners began queuing as early as 10 a.m. on Thursday (August 11)—almost 12 hours earlier than the 2015 event.
Considering that the pop-up didn't open until 7 a.m. the following day, that’s a total of 21 hours of waiting and a whole lot of dedication.

The SeaWheeze showcase store will remain open at the Vancouver Convention Centre’s West building (1055 Canada Place) until 8 p.m. today (August 12).
To keep things fair, each SeaWheeze participant is limited to purchasing a maximum of 15 items. Shoppers are also prohibited from buying more than three items of the same style, colour, and size.
The fifth annual—and now sold-out—SeaWheeze half-marathon takes place tomorrow (August 12) at 7 a.m. The 21.1-kilometre course will take runners through the city’s downtown core and along the Stanley Park seawall. More than 10,000 Vancouverites are expected to participate.
The event wraps up with the SeaWheeze Sunset Festival at Stanley Park, which features performances by Canadian electronic duo Chromeo and Vancouver’s own Dear Rouge and Youngblood. Tickets to the festival are $38 and available online.
