Back in September, we reported that “the world’s most reviled film director” Uwe Boll was planning on opening a restaurant in Vancouver.

An executive chef position was advertised for a Gastown-based restaurant called Bauhaus (1 West Cordova) opening in early 2015.

Looks like Boll has found his star chef.

Stefan Hartmann, former proprietor of the one Michelin-starred Hartmanns in Berlin, will bring his modern interpretations of fine German cuisine to Bauhaus.

The 38-year-old chef’s experience includes working in top European restaurants over the past decade, including VAU in Berlin and Jacques Maximin in France.

Don’t expect Boll to be greeting customers in the dining room. He has hired a Londoner by the name of Tim Adams to lead the front-of-house team.

The Bauhaus website has also been updated since 2014. Reservations are now available starting March 25, and the promise of a private chef’s table and catering are also mentioned on the website.
