The Straight gets to know some of the artists participating in this year’s upcoming Eastside Culture Crawl.

Who are you? Lisa Ochowycz, a painter living and working in Vancouver, BC.

Where is your studio? The Mezzanine at the Red Door Studio located inside the Mergatroid Building, #230-975 Vernon Drive.

How many years have you participated in the East Side Culture Crawl? This will be my 11th year!

What’s your medium? Generally large-scale abstract acrylic paintings on panel and delicate gestural works on paper in acrylic ink.

What are some new pieces we can find at your studio during this year’s Crawl? Along with new subtly layered atmospheric landscape paintings, paperwork inspired by mountain ranges, wind, the west coast and classical music, I will also have some pieces on hand from my recent artist residency in Iceland (June 2016), including some photo-based work. This will be my first time showing my photo work!

The 20th annual Eastside Culture Crawl is a four-day visual arts, design and crafts festival that takes place from November 17 to 20, 2016. For more information, click here.
