The shrinking Vancouver Sun and Province newsroom and layoffs at CTV are generating a great deal of chatter over social media.

According to a tweet by health reporter Pamela Fayerman, about 20 people are leaving the two Postmedia newspapers.

This comes as a result of voluntary buyouts.

Among those bidding adieu are Jeff Lee, Kim Pemberton, Tom Harrison, Wendy McLellan, Peter O'Neil, Gillian Shaw, Jenny Lee, Tara Carman, Erin Ellis, Katie Mercer, Howard Tsumura, Marc Weber, Erik Rolfsen, Scott Neufeld, Jonathan McDonald, Ginger Sedlarova, Pete Driver, Dave Rigler, Rafe Arnott, and Mark Yuen.

Meanwhile, Bell Media has just done some downsizing, letting go of sportscasters Scott Rintoul and Peter Schaad from its Vancouver TSN office.

Bell's CTV Vancouver newsroom has also parted ways with news anchor Coleen Christie, according to a tweet by former CTV Vancouver news director Margo Harper.

Harper has also reported that Bell laid off staff in its Okanagan bureau, including veteran reporter Kent Molgat.

Christie took to Instagram to thank her friends and fans for their good wishes.

"I had a wonderful 19.5 years with @ctvvancouver," she wrote. "Really looking forward to what the future and the universe holds for me next."
