Things are looking up for raw-food aficionado Aaron Ash now that he's reopened his vegan restaurant after a two-year hiatus.

The new Gorilla Food is at 637 East Hastings Street, and it's already a hit with one of the city's most recognizable chefs.

Eat North food writer Janet Ho recently asked seven TV cooking stars to list their most memorable meal.

It's Just Food host Ned Bell picked Gorilla Food's Main St. Monkey sandwich, saying the "raw seedy bread will blow you away".

Bell, the Vancouver Aquarium's Ocean Wise executive chef, told Ho that he and his wife Kate "are on a dedicated plant-based journey for the first half of the year".
