One of the planet's most famous and highest-paid movie stars arrived in Vancouver—and he's not from Hollywood.

Known as the King of Bollywood, the 51-year-old Shah Rukh Khan is here for an appearance today (April 27) at a session entitled "Tales of Tomorrow" at the Vancouver Convention Centre for TED 2017.

With massive followings of 24.6 million on Twitter, 23 million on Facebook, and 7.1 million on Instagram, Khan posted a video of himself at the convention centre in Vancouver.

Despite his huge celebrity status, Khan remains down-to-earth and approachable enough to pose with fans, who have been posting sightings and photos of and with him in Vancouver on social media.

Khan has visited Vancouver a few times.

In 2013, he was one of several performers at the inaugural Times of India Film Awards held at B.C. Place., along with a bevy of Bollywood's biggest stars.

In 2014, he performed along with numerous other Bollywood stars, including Abhishek Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, director Farah Khan, and more, at the Pacific Coliseum on the global Slam tour, dedicated to the late director Yash Chopra.

On social media, he noted that he shot the 1997 Bollywood film Pardes here.

This autumn, he will be hosting TED's new TV series in Hindi entitled TED Talks India: Nayi Soch (which translates as "new thinking").
