West End's Hub Restaurant will relocate to North Vancouver
Although it's sad news for West Enders that Hub Restaurant will be leaving its Denman location, there's good news for those on the North Shore.
The local chainlet closed its 1,650-square-foot location at 1037 Denman Street on May 8. The restaurant, which seated 65 people plus eight on the patio, has been there since August 2013.
They're moving to North Vancouver at Lonsdale Avenue and 13th Street, above Whole Foods.
Although Hub operations director Steve Brisson was unable to get back to us in time for the previous post due to involvement with the closure of the Denman location, he was able to contact the Georgia Straight today (May 16). He said that although they were hoping for an autumn opening on the North Shore, they're now aiming for December.
The even-better news is that the new location will be larger, being able to accommodate 200 people inside, with 100 people on the patio, which is similar to their New Westminster location. He added that it'll be easier to access than in the West End as parking will be available.
Brisson said the company has found that they do better in the suburbs and in larger rooms.
That said, for those downtown, Hub Restaurant is still operating in Yaletown at 1165 Mainland Street, which was renovated a few years ago. That's in addition to their New Westminster location at 344–800 Carnarvon Street.
Their menu offers a range of small plates, salad, sandwiches, wraps, burgers, entrées, and brunch items, as well as cocktails, wine, and beer.
