What is it about Burnaby that produces celebrities with so much poise?

Michael J. Fox and Michael Bublé are the most famous. The city was also the childhood home of Joe Sakic and Christine Sinclair, who've demonstrated that they don't buckle under pressure, either.

B.C.'s most unflappable politician, Christy Clark, is also from Burnaby. No matter how hot things get for her politically, she never seems to lose her cool.

This afternoon, I stumbled across a YouTube video of Michael J. Fox's first appearance on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.

Fox was the star of the hit TV series Family Ties, playing the young Republican Alex P. Keaton.

He had just turned 24 and the interview was filmed three weeks after the release of Back to the Future, which made him a global megastar.

Watch how Fox takes control of the interview, deftly and cleverly, from the master of late-night television.
