This week, get to fighting with Injustice 2, see how good Modern Warfare looks now, and indulge your Sega nostalgia with your smartphone. But first, Nintendo has got a new mini console just for you.

      New Nintendo mini console announced

Nintendo had so much success with the Nintendo NES Classic Edition mini console that the company has decided to miniaturize the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, which launched in 1991.

The Super NES Classic Edition looks the same as the original console, only smaller. It will be priced at C$100 when it is released on September 29.

As with last fall’s NES Classic Edition, the Super NES Classic Edition will come with games preinstalled on the system. There are 21 titles, including:
      Donkey Kong Country
      F-ZERO
      Kirby Super Star
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
      Star Fox
      Super Ghouls ‘n Ghosts
      Super Mario World
      Yoshi’s Island

The Super NES Classic Edition also comes with Star Fox 2, which was never released despite being completed 22 years ago. A sequel to the critically acclaimed 1993 game, Star Fox 2 was cancelled even though it was completed because new consoles, like the original Sony PlayStation and Sega Saturn, were out and the Nintendo 64 was on the horizon.

Canadian and U.S. preorders have not yet begun, but in the U.K., preorders at some retailers began last week and were sold out within hours.

That’s not a surprise, given what happened with the availability issues with the NES Classic Edition. Set your notifications now.

Injustice 2 Battleground Series competition for Canadians only

With a $10,000 prize pool, regional finals are taking place in seven Canadian cities, including Langley, where the competition moves to a Cineplex theatre.

Note that the competition is only open to PS4 players.

Remastered Call of Duty: Modern Warfare now available

Last week, a new version of Activision’s most popular Call of Duty game was released.

Originally published in 2007, the remaster of Modern Warfare was included as a bonus for those who purchased last fall’s Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

Now available on its own for PS4 and Xbox One, Modern Warfare Remastered is priced at C$50. It includes the full game as well as 16 multiplayer maps that were developed for the game and rereleased with high-definition visuals.

Sega Forever a new mobile game strategy

Game developer and publisher Sega has quite a history, and the company has embarked on a plan to get that history into the mobile devices we’re all carrying around with us.

Sega Forever games are Android and iOS ports of games that were originally developed for consoles like the Genesis, Sega Saturn, and Dreamcast.

Each game in the Sega Forever lineup is free to download and play, if you don’t mind advertising. You can pay US$2 to clear the ads.

The games are also playable offline and support cloud saves and game controllers.

      First to be released are:
      Altered Beast
      Comix Zone
      Kid Chamleon
      Phantasy Star II
      Sonic the Hedgehog
Sega says that new games will be added to the lineup every two weeks.
