Kid Rock is not actually running for a U.S. Senate seat, unless he is

Oh, hey. Remember when Kid Rock said he was running for a seat in the United States Senate? Yeah, no. He actually isn't. Possibly. But he might.

He does have an official "Kid Rock for U.S. Senate" website, of course, but there has been much media speculation that this was a publicity stunt, and a rather effective one at that. It was probably so effective because it smacked of reality. Terrifying, apocalyptic reality. Months before his "Kid Rock for U.S. Senate" website went up, prominent Republicans in Michigan were courting the self-proclaimed "American Badass".

In a statement posted to his website yesterday, Kid Rock—also known as Robert Ritchie—was nothing if not ambiguous with regards to whether or not he actually will run for office. It said, in fact, that Ritchie is "exploring" his "very possible" candidacy, which would seem to indicate that he hasn't actually made up his mind.

What he is doing for sure, however, is launching a nonprofit voter-registration organization, which is pretty damn democratic of the guy. Even... progressive? Because actually encouraging people to vote is sorta the opposite of what the Republican Party is known for, which is a little thing called "voter suppression".

In any case, it's hard to find fault with Kid Rock encouraging his fans to exercise their democratic franchise, even if he makes it clear how he would like them to vote.

One thing is for sure though…The democrats are 'shattin’ in their pantaloons' right now…and rightfully so!

It's unclear what alternate reality Rock is living in. According to FiveThirtyEight.com, Republican president Donald J. Trump's disapproval rating currently sits at over 55% and is rapidly trending upward. A number of GOP senators are rejecting their own party's draconian health-care bill. And now even such staunchly right-wing outlets as The American Conservative and the National Review are running pieces with headlines like "The Unstable Donald Trump", "Trump's Revolting Betrayal of Sessions", "There's No Shakeup That Can Fix the Trump White House", and "Mr. President, Please Be Quiet".

If pantaloons are indeed being shat in right now, it's not Democrats who are doing it.
