From August 9 to 19, the Vines Art Festival comes alive at various Vancouver venues.

The third annual community-driven event sees visual and performing artists, along with eco-conscious community leaders, herbalists, urban farmers, and woodcarvers, celebrate the Coast Salish landscape through earth-inspired art and performance.

This year the festival is hosting eight offshoot eco-events and performances in partnership with the City of Vancouver's Artists in Residency program. Over 70 artists are involved, including dancer Caitlin Griffin, musician Stefan Smulovitz, performer Lara Abadir, musician Dave Biddle, beekeeper Andrew Scott, sound artist Elisa Thorn, the New (to) Town Collective, and First Nations herbalist Lori Snyder.

And although arts fans can catch Vines Art Festival events happening throughout the city from August 9 to 19, the big draw is the main event that takes place at Trout Lake Park on August 19, from 1 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
