Noodleheads, take note: The Ramenman to open second location near Yaletown
There's great news for ramen fans in Yaletown (and the West End), as well as fans of the former Juno Japanese Sushi Bistro.
Juno closed on May 27 after eight years in business at 572 Davie Street just outside of Yaletown.
But wait—it's a bird! It's a plane! It's Ramenman to the rescue!
Well actually, it's the owner of Juno, Jun Okamura, who also runs Ramenman at 841 Bidwell Street (just off Robson Street) in the West End.
Okamura is planning to open a second ramen shop, The Ramenman @ Juno, on August 9 in the former Juno location. The 700 square-foot space will seat up to 25 people at tables and a bar.
By phone, he said he'll start off in soft-opening mode by offering only weekday lunch service for the first month before expanding hours.
As there isn't a ramen joint in the area, it's well-positioned to capture a new market outside of the West End's ramen zone down at Robson and Denman streets or the growing number of shops in the downtown core near Robson and Seymour streets.
