Japan wins 2017 Honda Celebration of Light fireworks competition in Vancouver

Japan has won the Honda Celebration of Light fireworks competition this year.

The country was represented in the popular Vancouver event by the Akariya Fireworks team, which opened the 2017 contest on July 29.

The team bested competitors from the United Kingdom and Canada, which put on their shows on August 2 and August 5, respectively.

The Akariya Fireworks team first won in the Honda Celebration of Light in 2014.

Over a million people were estimated to have witnessed the fireworks celebration.
