It looks like Kate Winslet isn’t the only A-lister who had a smashing time in B.C. this year.

After a clip of the actress gushing about Vancouver and Deep Cove’s Honey Doughnuts at the Toronto International Film Festival began circulating online on Tuesday (September 12), footage has emerged of her The Mountain Between Us co-star, Idris Elba, sharing some kind words about the city, too.

“I had a great time in Vancouver, I love it,” he told reporters on the TIFF red carpet during the premiere of The Mountain Between Us on Sunday (September 10). “The air was really good.”

True say about the air. (Though, clearly, Elba was in town long before the wildfire smoke descended upon the Lower Mainland.) The British actor also paid a compliment to the city of Invermere, where parts of the romance-disaster flick were shot, as well as Canadians in general.

“Invermere was incredible. It’s just beautiful, they’ve got all the hot springs around there, so you can jump in and get warm,” he said. “And the people are great in Canada. The crews are incredible. I’ve got nothing but love [for the country].”

If that’s not enough to convince you of Elba’s fondness of Canada, the star confirmed that he is also dating a Canadian.

He introduced his new girlfriend, Sabrina Dhowre, to eTalk’s Traci Melchor on the red carpet and, in a recent interview with Refinery 29revealed that he met the 29-year-old model, who was crowned Miss Vancouver in 2014, during filming for The Mountain Between Us. (Cue the chorus of "That could've been me!")

Elba was in Toronto to promote the B.C.–shot movie, which tells the story of a surgeon and photojournalist stranded in the Utah wilderness, and the Aaron Sorkin–directed Molly's Game, a crime-drama film based on American "poker princess" Molly Bloom's 2014 memoir.

Elba and Winslet aren’t the only celebs to have spent some quality time in B.C. this year. The cast of CW’s Riverdale, professional wrestler turned actor The Rock, and the Deadpool 2 and X-Files crews are only a handful of stars who have been spotted in Vancouver filming various projects in recent months.
