On October 7, 8 p.m., Vancouver New Music presents Grill/Jeck/Lemieux at the Annex (823 Seymour Street).

Through a live interconnected improvisation, Michaela Grill (laptop), Philip Jeck (turntables) and Karl Lemieux (16mm film) investigate the interface between analogue and digital in an amalgam of sound and image.

Computer-generated video and 16mm film images merge and collide into one projection, while musical improvisation creates a sound signal, which generates or manipulates certain aspects of the visual improvisations.

Vancouver New Music is active in engaging the community in the exploration, creation, and experience of progressive new music. It regularly commisions and premieres new work by Canadian composers and presents an annual festival that focuses on the new-music landscape.

Tickets for Grill/Jeck/Lemieux are $35, $25, and $15 and are available online, by calling 1-800-838-3006, and at the door.
