Photos: Northern Lights brightened up B.C. skies last night

Last night (September 27), the residents of B.C. were treated to a spectacular natural light show when the Northern Lights were visible for the evening.

Also known as Aurora Borealis, they're created when electrically charged particles from the sun collide with gas particles in the Earth's atmosphere.

Beats the pants off any fireworks show I've ever seen.

The natural light display was even visible in Banff, Alberta, as one shutterbug was able to document.
