If your only reason for not voting in Vancouver's upcoming by-election is not having a ride to the polls, consider yourself out of excuses.

One council candidate is offering Vancouverites a fun, free ride to the advance polls tomorrow (October 4).

The team behind Mary Jean "Watermelon" Dunsdon will pickup voters every hour at a few spots in the city for the first day of advance voting at City Hall.

Rides will also be offered next Monday (October 10) on the second day of advance voting.

‎"The city isn't making it easy to vote," said Dana Larsen, president of civic political party Sensible Vancouver, the party backing Dunsdon, in a release.

"The only place to advance vote is at City Hall, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., so we've got a couple of buses and are offering free hourly rides to vote, and back again."

The Sensible Vancouver buses will be stationed outside of Marc Emery's Cannabis Culture Headquarters at 307 West Hastings, the Downtown Eastside Street Market at 62 East Hastings, and at Dunsdon's Commercial Drive Licorice Parlor at 1002 Commercial Drive.

Pick ups will happen at these locations every hour betwen 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. The party is also offering to pick voters up at other locations as needed.

"If you can't make it to one of our pick up spots, just give us a call and we'll send a driver to get you," added Larsen.

"We want to make sure everyone gets to vote in this important byelection."

Anyone without a ride is invited to call Sensible Vancouver at (604) 802-7270.
