From October 12 to 21, A Little Night Music takes the stage at Gateway Theatre (6500 Gilbert Road, Richmond).

Presented by Gateway Theatre and Patrick Street Productions, the musical tells a tale of infatuation, jealousy, and true love as the cast of characters meet, couple, and uncouple during a weekend at a lavish country estate in turn-of-the-century Sweden.

Featuring music and lyrics originally created by Stephen Sondheim, with the book by Hugh Wheeler, the popular musical is based on Ingmar Bergman's comedy of manners Smiles of a Summer Night.

Peter Jorgenson directs a cast that includes baritone Warren Kimmel as Frederik Egerman and Katey Wright as Desiree Armfeldt. The production also features the talents of musical director Sean Bayntun, assistant director Chris Allan, set and lighting designer Alan Brodie, and costume designer Jessica Bayntum.

Gateway Theatre will also be hosting an engaging and interesting forum with a panel of invited guest experts. They will be examining musicals that have been adapted from films and the ideas and themes surrounding this topic. This forum is free to attend and takes place on Sunday, October 15 at 1 p.m, just before the Sunday matinee performance.

Tickets for A Little Night Music start at $29 and are available online or by calling 604-270-1812.
