Anyone who has visited the Afghan Horsemen Restaurant near Granville Island is aware of its exquisite interior. With all the art, photographs, jewellery, and crafts on display, it's the closest thing in Vancouver to entering a museum dedicated to the Central Asian country.
Recently, the restaurant at 1833 Anderson Street (behind Starbucks) added a gazebo on the patio for those who want to stay out of the rain.
Ahmad Shah Yusufi shows off the new gazebo at the Afghan Horsemen.
Last night when I dropped by the restaurant for dinner, the manager, Ahmad Shah Yusufi, told me that the structure was created to host smaller parties in a traditional Afghan style.
"We made it like a tent," he said. "We call a khayma in our language."
