It probably comes as no surprise that Whistler Blackcomb would come first in the Canadian Living list as the top ski destination in Canada.

A B.C. resort, Sun Peaks near Kamloops, came second, placing ahead of traditional powerhouses Banff/Lake Louise and Mount Tremblant.

“Massive ski terrain and plentiful dry snow are two critical assets to Sun Peaks’ reputation," Tourism Sun Peaks president Christopher Nicolson said in response to the results. "But the quality and convenience of the ski-in ski-out village, diversity of shops and restaurants, and genuine friendliness of the locals are often unexpected by our guests.”

The B.C. community of Fernie came sixth, thanks in part to its 140 runs and five alpine bowls.

The Kicking Horse Resort in Golden, B.C. placed seventh.
