Die Antwoord blasts Lady Gaga in outrageous new "Fatty Boom Boom" video
Apparently one does not simply invite Die Antwoord to be one's opening act on a major arena-headlining tour. At least not without consequences, as Lady Gaga has discovered.
Back in March, the South African rap crew was telling anyone who would listen that its former label, Interscope, had approached it with the opportunity to open for Gaga, who is apparently a Die Antwoord fan. The admiration is clearly not mutual. Yo-Landi Vi$$er and Ninja turned the offer down, and the latter explained his decision by saying that Die Antwoord's music is not "weak, superficial shit".
This was evidently not all he had to say on the matter, as the new video for "Fatty Boom Boom" makes clear. There's a Lady Gaga look-alike in it, but that's as much as I'm going to say. Wouldn't want to give away any spoilers. Watch it below.
Gaga's response, via Twitter (see above), has been relatively restrained so far, with the Mother Monster merely noting that her ticket sales in South Africa have been just fine without Die Antwoord on the bill.

Die Antwoord are fail. They were interesting for a few minutes many years ago. Their 'flow' is junk.
I'm not a fan of pop music but Lady Gaga is pretty good as way as mindless club music goes. She at least doesn't lip synch or have all her songs written for her. Her lyrics are also a lot more impressive than 'kick you in the junk' Die Antwoord fail flow.

They could have just said no thank you (Canadian here). That video sucked a big fatty as far as I'm concerned. I don't think Gaga is the best thing out there either, but even I can't help but love her to some extent.

Until this tactless, fuckery excuse for a music video.

1) as a music video, it is rare to find one is so compelling in this post-YouTube age.
2) an awfully mean reply to an offer most 'professional' musicians only dream about ?
3) What was that bug retrieved from Ms. Gaga and does it have some symbolic significance in SA culture? It didn't look like a cockroach, so I am a bit mystified?
4) I tend to think of Die Antwoord as a better version of Atari Teenage Riot with a stage show inspired by EARLY John Waters -- so not a big fan, but I enjoy tracks from SOS occasionally on the playlist.
5) Bruce Norris would certainly have issues with the gal's make up

DA's vid is hilarious! Colorful, exciting and full of satire. DA always comes up with a new way to entertain that hasn't been done before. Lady Gaga has never impressed me with her "style" or music. She is just a Madonna wanna-be and copies her to no end. Everyone keeps saying that Die Antwoord is a flash in the pan, but they keep coming out with better and better tunes and vids. I have a feeling they can be around a long time if they want to. Lady Gaga has had her 15 minutes of fame.
