The Georgia Straight proudly sponsors Staff Benda Bilili with special guest Ezra Kwizera

Congolese band Staff Benda Bilili with special guest Ezra Kwizera will take the stage at the 560 Night Club (560 Seymour Street) on Sunday (October 28) at 8:30 p.m.

Staff Benda Bilili is made up of eight talented street musicians who are paraplegic and live in and around the zoo in Kinashasa, Congo. The band, which includes four singer/guitarists backed by an all-acoustic rhythm section, plays infectious rumba-rooted grooves.

Meanwhile, Kwizera, who grew up as a Rwandan refugee in Uganda and is now based out of Vancouver, is one of East Africa’s most notable musicians. His sound is a mix of reggae, soca, and African dance hall.
