Nancy Robertson tried to set the tone early on Saturday night (June 11), when she accepted her award for Best Performance in a Music, Comedy, or Variety Program or Series. The Hiccups star noted that she'd worked with most of the other nominees, slept with at least one of them (presumably that would be husband Brent Butt), and then went on to thank her agent by his pet name, "Motherfucker."

Robertson had the crowd of industry folk roaring at the second, gala ceremony for the Leo Awards, at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver (the Celebration Awards ceremony took place at Club 560, on Wednesday). The rest of the evening was a little less profane, but Hal Beckett and the Vancouver Film Orchestra kept things juiced, along with a wry hosting job from Bill Richardson ("I know you all want to get home at a decent time and watch Law and Order", he said. "Or as it's known at our house, foreplay.")

William Phillips' film Gunless was the biggest winner with four awards, including Best Feature Length Drama. And Jay Brazeau's trophy for Best Supporting Performance in Carl Bessai'sFathers & Sons was a popular win for the actor, who suffered a stroke while performing in a preview of the musical, Hairspray, in March.
