New Westminster’s Karmavore Vegan Shop celebrating third anniversary

A cornerstone of Metro Vancouver’s vegan scene is turning three years old.

Salim and Jennifer Jamal opened Karmavore Vegan Shop (610 Columbia Street) back in 2009 with a tiny storefront in New Westminster’s Sapperton neighbourhood. In December 2010, the region’s first vegan store moved to a two-floor space in downtown New West.

If you can’t make it over to the first-ever Victoria Vegan Festival on July 1, Karmavore’s third-anniversary party offers another opportunity to mark Canada Day in cruelty-free style. The variety store is promising a free cupcake or soft-serve ice cream to every customer who shows up between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. There’ll also be samples and promotions from local vendors and face painting for the kids.

Everything in that store would be cheaper if the government subsidized vegan food the sam e as they subsidize the animals-for-food industry

      Great store. Worth the trip.
