NPA's Elizabeth Ball says Sean Bickerton would be welcomed back

Sean Bickerton would be welcomed back to the NPA said Elizabeth Ball, one of the party’s two candidates elected to Vancouver city council.

Bickerton, whose bid for a seat on council with the NPA was unsuccessful, posted a message on his website earlier today which called the party’s mayoral campaign “puerile” and “sophomoric”.

“Sean is a wonderful, passionate, caring, caring person,” Ball told the Straight by phone. “And you know, we can all have bad days. I think the day after any election is tough for anyone, especially someone who has cared so much and given so much to the community. And hopefully we’ll see Sean back at it when he’s had a chance to have a vacation and recover from what we all know elections are like.”

It is never a good idea to burn bridges.

I see that the NPA is in safe hands with the likes of Ball, Lucille that is...

Dear gawd if the future of the NPA is dependant upon the likes of Ball and Affleck time to bury the corpse and get the tombstone crafted

The NPA is dead, COPE is dead, long live the NPA & COPE

They had a great ride.

How about burning a weak bridge to build a stronger one?

Well, there is alot to be said for retrospect. Consider that someone is motivated to make a difference in his/her community by choosing to run for a seat in municipal government. That person aligns themselves with people they admire and who appear to share the same values and ideas to improve the way their community works. As the campaign intensifies, this person discovers that despite sharing the same values and ideas, the politcal game is more ruthless and nasty than expected and becomes increasingly disenchanted with the choice he/she made. After it's all over this person makes a decision to explore other ways of serving his/her community in a more positive way.

I dunno? Just an thought .......

Nice thought VC, I blame the press for being an Orwellian info filter more than an educator.
