Geez I look like a midget. Am I really that small compared to the other commissioners? Loretta

"Green park board commissioner Stuart Mackinnon holds a slice of official opening cake."
Is there something ironic to see him placing the cake onto Styrofoam plates? Not quite "green"

Funny, that's the exact spot we petitioned for years to have a skateboard park built. However, we were told time and time again, that the residences were concerned with the potential noise and individuals such a place would attract. Old prejudices die hard.

I think that its good to have a bike park in Van finally and that this is a great location for one. I can see how skate parks can be very loud though, I lived near one in White Rock and you could hear the boards and wheels hitting the concrete all day and night. I think the rubber on the dirt is a lot quieter for the people surrounding the area. I do agree with you on the "individuals such a place would attract", comment. I think such prejudices are very primitive by today's standards.
