On Thursday (January 3), UBC students, faculty and staff will have an opportunity to express support for the aboriginal community without breaking any laws.

All they have to do is show up for a group photograph on the lawn in front of the First Nations Longhouse at UBC.

The peaceful event will take place at 12:15 p.m. Kids are welcome and people can bring signs and banners.

The photo will be uploaded on the Idle No More website.

Organizers say there will be no marching, but there will be a moment of silence to think about Chief Theresa Spence and Bill C-45. This legislation redefines what's "aboriginal" under the Fisheries Act and sharply reduces federal authority over inland waterways.

By Thursday, Chief Spence will be in the 24th day of her hunger strike in Ottawa.

The address of the longhouse is 1985 West Mall. It includes the First Nations House of Learning.
