Vera Wang makes knock-off of Kim Kardashian's wedding dress for brides on a budget

If you attended a wedding this summer, chances are that the bride looked nothing like Kim Kardashian on her wedding. When the reality TV star wed basketball player Kris Humphries two weeks ago, her three Vera Wang wedding gowns cost an estimated $25,000—each.

For those of us mere mortals who aren't endowed with similar moneymaking ass-ets as Kardashian, but still want to don a celeb-worthy gown on the big day, Wang is knocking off and mass producing two of her own designs at a fraction of the price.

A cheaper version of the strapless tulle ball gown, which Kardashian wore down the aisle, and a mermaid-style dress, which she wore during the couple's first dance, will be available at David's Bridal starting February 2012 for around $1,600.

David's Bridal has stores across the U.S., and also ships internationally. Wang's White by Vera Wang wedding dress collection is also available online at David's Bridal, and prices range from $600 to $1,400.

Another now-famous wedding dress, the one designed by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen for Kate Middleton, was replicated in less than 12 hours after the royal wedding by A.B.S. by Allen Schwartz, a fast-fashion company that is also known for knocking off popular dresses worn to the Academy Awards. Kate's dress, which is appropriately named "Kate's Morning Church Gown", costs $1,100 before and is sold in Lord & Taylor stores, stateside and online.

Would you wear a wedding dress that was a knock-off of a celebrity's, or is that just tacky?
