Who are B.C.'s most right-wing journalists and broadcasters?
Today, I started musing about the number of conservatives in the B.C. media. This occurred as I was reading a post by one of the kingpins, Tom Fletcher, the Victoria bureau chief for Black Press.
For fun, I decided to create a list of the 10 most right-wing columnists, reporters, and broadcasters in the province. The list is weighted by their influence.
Feel free to fill in the comment form below if you feel I've missed anyone or if you disagree with the choices.
1. Harvey Enchin, Vancouver Sun
2. Jon Ferry, Province newspaper
3. Tom Fletcher, Black Press
4. Fazil Mihlar, Vancouver Sun
5. Terry O'Neill, Roadkill Radio
6. Bruce Allen, CKNW Radio
7. Mark Hasiuk, Vancouver Courier
8. Mel Rothenburger, the Daily News in Kamloops
9. Norman Spector, Globe and Mail contributor
10. Mark Tonner, former Province columnist—he's no longer contributing regular articles, but no list of right wingers in the media would be complete without him.
Happy holidays.

I think you're being a bit generous giving any journalists a particular wing.
A half dozen years ago - this question might have had some play - but now - if you talk to regular people - most, if they care at all will tell you they don't believe the press anymore.
I suspect these guys - as competent at their craft as they may be went down the drain with Campbell - and it is going to be some time- and maybe a long time before anyone really cares - except the guys writing, their owner, publisher, editors -------------------------------and advertisers/
It isn't left or right - were down to the metal on means of production -- only

To call Mel Rothenburger a right winger, while neglecting the hyperbole spewed by Jim Harrison of CHNL, is laughable.
Rothenburger frequently rips into both the provincial liberals and federal conservatives on his Armchair Mayor column, while Harrison would be happly to be a fluffer on Gordo's porn set.

You should replace Mel Rothenburger, who actually writes a fairly balanced blog, with Jim Harrison on CHNL: Harrison is an out-and-out clown and by far the most "right-wing" political commentator in the province.

I like your list although a couple quibbles: Bruce Allen ain't no journalist and Fletcher appears to have moved to the realm of bc government flak/apologist. The others have legitimate right wing perspectives and unlike Fletcher may see the other side of an issue from time to time.

Now, what about a list of BC's most left-wing journalists?

The National post is a tabloid quality blog with very few readers. Maybe this is why Adrian didn't make the cut.

Good list.
I would rank Bruce Allen first in terms of influence. Many more people listen to the radio than read any newspaper, and CKNW is very popular in Vancouver.
Fazil Mihlar probably second because he's the gatekeeper for what makes the opinion pages of the Sun.

Yeah, Norm Spector is so right wing even Susan Delacourt is grossed out by his hit piece on Harper today. I know, I know, former CoS to Mulroney, Bennett henchman, blahblahblah, I don't care, he is a pinko, a faux-con, a fragger inside the tent, straight up, always has been.
