Eggs Canna Inc. sells marijuana at an East Hastings Street store without a permit from the City of Vancouver.

Although it is the subject of an injunction and enforcement action by city hall, the weed retailer seems to be unruffled.

In fact, Eggs Canna has applied with the city for a development permit to transfer its current pot store at the corner of East Hastings and Garden Drive to a location across the street to the east.

The vendor wants to relocate to two adjoining retail spaces near the southeast corner of East Hastings and Nanaimo streets.

One of the store spaces that Eggs Canna wants to set up a new shop used to be the location of the once popular Ugo & Joe’s meat store.

Eggs Canna’s present store at 2303 East Hastings is on the same block and a few doors away from Café 420 at 2347 East Hastings, which is also a marijuana store operating without permission from the city.

Also on the same block and north side of the street is the community office of Vancouver-Hastings MLA Shane Simpson.

According to a listing by the City of Vancouver, Eggs Canna has another shop at 2235 Commercial Drive, which is also doing business without city authorization.

In its application for a development permit, Eggs Canna is asking the city to change the use of 2406 East Hastings, the former location of the Ugo & Joe’s meat shop, and 2408 East Hastings from retail to medical marijuana-related use.

The two new locations that Eggs Canna wants to relocate will have a floor area of more than 4,000 square feet.

Eggs Canna told the city in a letter that it has been “operating as a safe and responsible Cannabis Vendor since 2014”.

“We offer customized and knowledgeable service, testing on products coupled with a wide variety of Psychoactive and Non-Psychoactive products for all of our patients needs,” according to the retailer’s letter. “All of our flower is pre-packaged in a sanitized environment and sold in custom smell proof, food grade bags with warning labels and detailed strain information, including but not limited to efficacy and proven medicinal properties.”

Eggs Canna also told city hall that it adheres to a “good neighbour code of conduct” by not allowing marijuana use on its premises.

According to the weed retailer, it “politely” enforces no-noise and no-smoking rules around its buildings.

Members of the public have until Thursday (February 1) to comment on the application.
