B.C. RCMP have busted an illicit cannabis grow-op in the south Similkameen Valley.

For several months, RCMP have been conducting an investigation into a report of an illegal cannabis facility located on VLA Road in Cawston, B.C., which is located near Keremeos in southern British Columbia.

The facility was alleged to be growing a large amount of cannabis without licensing from Health Canada.

According to B.C. RCMP, officers observed an unspecified large amount of cannabis plants that were growing on the property.

Keremeos RCMP, with help from Oliver and Osoyoos RCMP, police dog services, and South Okanagan traffic services, used a search warrant on September 24 to enter the property.

Over 500 cannabis plants were seized.

A man at the scene was arrested but later released from custody.

The investigation remains ongoing with charges being recommended to the B.C. Prosecution Service.
