Less than a year before the federal Liberal government plans to legalize marijuana, the Mounties have shut down another B.C. dispensary.

The Limelife Society isn't the only such business to be closed in Nanaimo over the past two years. Three others were raided in December 2015, according to a report in the Times Colonist.

RCMP spokesperson Const. Gary O'Brien told the Times Colonist that the business in Nanaimo was suspected of being a site of opioid trafficking. About $17,000 in cash was seized.

In 2015, Vancouver police raided an unlicensed Limelife store on Rupert Street.

Other former Vancouver Limelife locations were at 45 East Broadway and 1167 Granville Street.

The Limelife Society continues operating storefront cannabis operations at 326 East Hastings Street in Vancouver and in Port Alberni.
