Tundra: Music in Northern Lands

Vancouver Cantata Singers

The Arctic tundra is a sparse, yet beautiful landscape. These regions of cold barren land above the permafrost have been inhabited or traversed by humans for ages. It is the ‘land of the midnight sun’ in summer yet in the dark days of winter, the sun barely rises. With repertoire from North America, Iceland, Norway, and Russia,  features sacred and secular music from countries that share the arctic tundra biome. The program will include works by Emerson Eads, Ola Gjeilo, Jón Liefs, Sergei Rachmaninov, Caroline Shaw, and the world premiere by our composer-in-residence Craig Galbraith.
