The Advantages of Self Check Out
posted August 5th, 2014 at 6:41 PM
Am I the only one who buys organic vegetables and fruits so I can go through the self check out and select the non-organic food codes and not pay the ridiculous prices for healthier food? Maybe I should feel bad, but I don't really. I do punch in the right code the odd time though, you know, just to try and balance things a bit.

Why wouldn't you? You are entitled to everything your greasy little sausage fingers please. Hey, I dropped my wallet... Guess it's yours now. Look, an old lady with a purse, that's yours for a snatching. Theif.
no, stealing is wrong

I mostly use self checkout when I'm buying a box of jumbo tampons, Midol, and some Ben and Jerry's so I don't have to deal with the cashier asking me how my day is when the evidence is on the counter.

you are enjoying the benefits of organic but not supporting the growers who provide it for you? umm hmm.
Try some farmer's markets instead this time of year. You get good food for cheap.

It's when you actually pay for your organic food that your supermarket knows that you want organic and will continue to bring more organic options. Eventually if they figure out people are only willing to steal it that they'll stop bringing it in.

I go through the checkout with the actual person working... I like to keep real people working their jobs. Soon all check outs will be automated and many out of work.
(I can see the tampon and ice cream day above as an exception).
Wow

Well-planned scam. Have you thought about joining the Mafia? You'd do well.
Why don't you just...

...use the cheapest food code you can find for all of it? Stealing is stealing, and if that's what you're doing, why pull punches? It's like robbing 7-11 at gunpoint but telling the cashier to keep $20, so you feel better. You're a thief, plain and simple.

Well, wrong in a moral sense. From a money perspective, Safeway has obviously determined that losses through "misclassification" are far less than the money they save through paying less in wages.
