Shut Up Please...

You would not believe how much my supervisor talks every morning. She has been visiting with her two 'pet employees' for the past two hours. Topics range from her kids to tequila shopping in the liquor store. Everyone else hears it, sees it, but everyone else within the department, carry on about their work around them. It is actually odd to watch. They sit together in a little circle together like they're at a Starbucks table. This happens just about every day.

what an interesting confession. sounds like this situation really bothers you. ask yourself why - and i don't think it has much to do with your supervisor. are you on a brink of an important decision or a life situation?

Thank you 'rude'. Unprofessional not to mention, 'favoritism'.

Favoritism is natural. When you were in college did you treat all of your classmates and teachers with exactly the same respect? Or were you naturally attracted to people who you worked best with?

I am guessing managers will do the same in some respect. Why call on other workers when you naturally connect and get more work done that way through a few others that are able to make that connection?

Sure you may call it favoritism. I call it green thinking in the sense that it is natural and calling everything 'green' these days is good business.

As long as the boundaries are not pushed to far these types of relationships are likely more beneficial than not. I guess your boss isn't able to connect with you. You are below her so who's real problem is it? Yours or hers?

Can I just add I really appreciate the Georgia Straight. In a way, venting and getting a response from others within a short time frame can be therapeutic.

Hmm...

High school never ended for a lot of people. Give these small-minded, attention craving twits power and this is what happens.

Uggh

I feel your pain. Many of my coworkers are like this and it's so annoying.

Yup!

I have one of those at work too. "earned" her position through family connections and looks, and then there are those of us who slugged our way along, getting an education, getting experience. I'm probably jealous that I don't have the luxury of not actually doing anything but gossip and get paid. Not probably, I should say definitely. I'm definitely jealous. I still feel punchy though.
