My confession is that I sometimes forget certain friends' children's names. Or rather, I remember their names but forget which one is which. In my defence, the friends in question I see maybe once or twice a year for a girls' night and maybe for a Christmas get together with all of the young-uns (of which I have none). One friend in particular has two girls in their tweens who could almost be twins but for the fact they were born 4 years apart, and they grow up and change so much between the ages of 9 and 14. So instead of making the mistake of calling one "Diana" when she is actually "Dana" (because of course, the kids' names start with the same letter and are similar sounding too), I just call all the kids "sweetheart". And if I call you sweetheart too, just gently remind me of your name, honey.
