Dan offers some advice on where she might find it.
We both abruptly stopped on the corner of W Hastings/Cambie near the park and seamlessly started...

I think you should be more concerned about the obnoxious drunk club goers (& the drunk macho douchebags acting tough & trying to impress the young girls) that hang out on Granville Street every weekend rather than a one a year event (btw do stoned people become aggressive like drunks & start fights & get arguments with their girlfriends or boyfriends?)

So because there's a group of hooligans messing up Granville Street on the regular that means everyone else gets a pass? Nope.

I avoid Granville Street at night out of fear for my physical safety. Would not say the same thing about 420.
If the parks board hadn't refused the permit, organizers would have paid about half of the city's costs for policing, cleanup, etc. Refusing to issue the permit means subsidizing the event.
But yes, please pick up your garbage, everyone, always.

@excusemecrankyoldperson:
Just because other people act like idiots, it doesn't give you license to leave your garbage everywhere for a once a year event. You're not a good spokesperson for your cause, nor are you making a convincing argument to let you continue to fry your braincells.
You should be more concerned about what you're going to do with all those extra ampersands.
Every year.

The organizers should be fined.

We've heard these strawman arguments (aka. distracting arguments) before.
Basically, I am going to reiterate the problem is that potheads are making a mess and potheads avoiding responsibility. Clean up your mess!
I completely agree

This "protest" is nothing more than a giant dope party where the people selling paraphernalia and weed do so right out in the open in spite of no license. As a decades-long recreational pot smoker I'm in favour of ending prohibition, but let's get real here and quit with the pretense of a protest and stop making the taxpayer clean up your mess!!!
Hypo hypo hypocrite.

Get a life. Omfg what about all the nasty piss smelling alkies that leave their disgusting pigsties at countless other events?
Agreed..

They destroyed the park, the turf has been ruined.
And at the Art Gallery, where many responsible people were protesting, the Police were incredibly heavy-handed---apparently there is one law for the "responsible, park-destroying potheads" and another for the "irresponsible" people who chose to protest in the downtown core, where they were not obstructing anything.
The issue is the rule of law and discrimnation---we have no rule of law in Vancouver. The City manager, Engineering Services and Police make it up as they go.
