Psycholists using busy roads

I'm all for cycling, but cyclists who use busy roads during rush hour when you have a parallel bike route one street over, you sure look like jerks.

It would be great if a bylaw officer or something made rotating rounds on the streets most often used by cyclists. A $100 ticket for riding on the sidewalk, $50 for no helmet. Lots of coin could be made. Maybe it would even dissuade people from doing it when they realize they never know when/where an officer will be waiting for them.

The ones who ride and swerve on the sidewalks are selfish.

Absolutely!
There the same angry guy all in black who cycles east on broadway from kits everyday during rush hour. The irony is, he works in a bike shop! He should know better and use the bloody bike route on 8th!
Uh, wow...

Cyclists are not second class citizens, they're allowed on _any road at all_ except for the Transcanada, and IMO that is an unconstitutional restriction that should be thrown out.

they just moved here from away, b/c they seem so oblivious to the dedicated bike-lane streets one block over while taking their sweet time and blocking traffic on busy streets

The roads are dangerous enough driving another car...yes cyclists have every right to be there but it's very dangerous to make cars and trucks swerve around you at high speeds and with narrow lanes... in a car bike collision the cyclist usually ends up very badly injured or worse.

Cars should not be "swerving" around.
If there is parking in the curb lane, a cyclists has every right to be outside of the radius of an open door, effectively using the entire lane. Cyclists don't do this because asshole drivers would murder them.

You see: the main routes with cars move faster. As long as I am not in your way as a cyclist, what's the problem?

Is that what you're going to say when the car runs over your disbelieving, incredulous, legally correct butt? "Uh, wow!"
Come on! As a daily cycle commuter, I am grateful to the city for putting up designated lanes and to the 99.99% of car drivers who are respectful, despite the best efforts of people like Big Fat Dave Pratt on Team1040 trying to build up the anger against us.
What this situation does not need are more reckless, entitled cyclists raising the temperature of motorists.
Of course it is our RIGHT to inconvenience the drivers, but how intelligent do you think that is?
