I confess I'm a bit scared...

about standing up to the alt-right and neo-nazis and white supremacists. I'm white and straight and I've never been bullied or discriminated against. I've always stayed comfortably in the background, and have never been to any kind of protest rally. However, I'm now so sickened by all this bizarre, hateful shit that I feel like I no longer have a choice. I absolutely have to show up, and to keep showing up, over and over again. If I/we don't, those groups will only get stronger.

No, vote.

I appreciate you being socially aware, but don't show up to the protests. You're not helping that way. Mark election day on your calendar, and show up to vote. Vote for people who will promise to take a wrecking ball to everything these alt-right people stand for. That's how you slap down these little dipshits.

I disagree

All this confrontation is like throwing oil on fire. It's only going to make their movement stronger. Ignoring them will make them disappear into irrelevancy like they were for many years.

will be with you. I'll be there and even if we don't meet or ever connect. I'll be standing there with you somewhere in the crowd. You're not going to be alone. You will be with friends.

See you tomorrow.

I confess I don't care about either side...I deal with every race everyday and I treat everyone with the same respect and attention and I don't judge anyone.Treat people with respect and they usually treat you back with respect.

I guess you were out picketing the embassy of Pakistan last week. Or Indonesia. Or Venezuela.

Come on. You want to do something that makes YOU feel like YOU are a good person

This is a prime example of the media turning a mouse into a big boogieman. Neo Nazis and KKK, are so very few in number and nearly non existent (their membership is maybe a few thousand people throughout the entire US. A small group of them, stage a protest, and they wouldn't have had any media attention at all, and nothing would have happened at all, if the alt left (just as bad) had not shown up looking for trouble which they found because a city mayor and police went out of their way to make sure trouble could ensue so the media could create an atmosphere of violence and division throughout society.

Of course the average person would be scared. Youre standing up to terrorists. You shouldnt have to, thats the governments job. But unfortunately if youre not brown then you cant be labeled a terrorist and the gov wont do anything about it.

these groups have always been there.. today they aren't any kind of a real threat IMO..

In the 1920's the ku klux klan had numbers like 4 or 5 million, and were involved in every level of government. In some states a senator would pretty well need their backing to get in. Look at the actions of the KKK during the civil rights movement.. murders, bombings, etc.

Today the number of these people is a few thousand at best. Typically losers full of hate, looking for someone to blame. Doesn't mean some of them aren't dangerous, but they really don't pose much of a threat to society in general. I'm really not concerned to be honest, bigger issues in society I believe. Such as big corporations hogging the wealth from the rest of society/nations. Middle class disappearing. That is the stuff that scares me, not socially awkward "Nazi's"
