Please Shut Off Your Engine

The air quality in the lower mainland right now is very low. Every day I see people parked, sitting in their vehicle with the engine running. This only contributes to the poor air quality and smog. Please don't sit in your parked vehicle with the engine running for 20 minutes. Think about the air quality and turn off your engine. Thanks.

Did you ever think that maybe they have a child in the car and/or dog with them?

You do realize

that our poor air quality is currently happening because of forest fires don't you? And that we're also in the middle of a freaking HEAT WAVE!? Those people sitting in their cars that are running are doing it for a reason - so that they don't fry to death in their cars! To some people to even step outside into the heat and smoke is not a wise, nor a comfortable proposition. They may have severe health issues, and/or not be able to function in the heat or smoke. And who knows? Maybe they don't have AC in their residence and their car is the only place they can go for relief from the heat - You clearly have not thought this through.

And while we're at, please remember if you smoke and/or apply scents to be mindful of how this can affect other people. Some of us are really struggling to breathe already with the forest fire smoke in the air. Combining that with cigarette smoke and/or scented things like perfume and cologne only makes it worse for me. It's cumulative.

One freighter in port for a couple days (running in and out of the Georgia Strait) pollutes more soot and sulfur than all the cars in all of BC would in a few years,or more. Google - container ship pollution

Check your local bylaws. Also, some people do need the a/c for health reasons so have some consideration.
