Solar Eclipse Brings Out Community

The solar eclipse this morning once again had me questioning all those people who post and say that Vancouver is cold, unfriendly, stuck-up and no one talks to them. We didn't have glasses but two friendly cheerful fellows who we didn't know from Adam let us take several looks through theirs. Then, walking back from the beach just after the apex we had no fewer than 4 other people offer up their glasses because they wanted to ensure everyone got to see. Unfriendly? Hardly. Maybe it's the posters of these ads who have resting bitch face and all the other things they accuse the awesome people of this city of having or doing! Oh, and the shadows were amongst the coolest things caused by the eclipse...hundreds of moon shaped shadows caused by every tree!

We could have all mooned the eclipse as a group, and watched it upside-down between our legs.
(I never think of this stuff until it's too late!)

Did you gain any new lifelong friends from this brief coming together of community -- people that you can call up on a whim to hang out for drinks after work, do stuff on the weekends, or rely on in times of need? Ha, didn't think so. But then again, you probably have your own clique already -- imaginary or otherwise.

The people interested

in the eclipse are friendly and are interested and in tune with nature, and the universe, etc. The unfriendly ones weren't interested in the eclipse and weren't out there. I tried to meditate quietly and immerse myself in the moment but my neighbors were out talking loudly and didn't even care it was going on. Some of my other neighbors were eager to offer me their viewing glasses so I could see it. There is definitely a mix of people here.

Don't Agree

Shouldn't need a rare occurrence such as a solar eclipse to bring the community out together. People should just be open and nice on a daily basis.

So now that its over I guess everyone can get back to being cold and unforgiving here.

Great idea. Just remember to wear protective eclipse sunglasses. No, not on your butt.

Jeez, what a cynical little turd you are!
My sympathies to anyone who actually has to interact with you in real life.

I'm a really friendly person and talk to everyone. I am a German born woman with a natural "resting bitch face", until I smile. Why bring that into the conversation? Never judge a book by its cover.....

God... I really hate the term 'resting bitch face',
