Is it just me

that absolutely hates my job? I know work isn't the highlight of most people's lives, and I'm lucky to be working at a stable company with good culture where nothing is 'wrong'-- it's just that nothing feels right. I feel no motivation in my life and I'm absolutely dead inside. I'm still a few years out of school. Is this normal? Will I ever be happy?

It's Not Just You

I absolutely hate my job too. Yes, the wage is quite high considering the type of work I do, and it is a large, stable company. The corporate culture is horrific though and I went back to school almost 10 years ago in order to find another job. I'm still stuck there though. I get more depressed and withdrawn every day. Like you, I'm starting to feel dead inside. I'll never be happy there but its impossibly hard to transition to a new line of work when everyone keeps asking for "previous experience" as a requirement. You're not alone in this pal. I'm in the same boat as you.

I work for a family business and while I make a decent living it's hell dealing with and making money for people who have ZERO appreciation for all the hard work and long hours you put in and give you shit for the smallest unimportant things.

Welcome to the rat race.

Most people feel this way. But others do something about it and find a career the resonates with them better. Ask yourself more questions about what you want out of your work life....if your answer is money and only money...you will always be unhappy at work.

I used to feel like that. Then my values started shifting over time...from "what is life giving to me" to "what am I giving to life".

Most people just coast through their work lives. If you're lucky, you'll find something that is simply boring, as opposed to making you want to tear out your eyeballs.

Get comfortable and find a way to enjoy life outside of work.

I felt like you. Then I was injured while working at my job and can't even do it anymore. They are trying to get rid of me now and I had to hire a lawyer. My advice would be to stay safe, enjoy your hobbies, save your money, and think about what else you can do to better your situation.
